Cancale, a small fishing port a few kilometres from Saint-Malo, is famous for its oysters.
When the tide goes out, oyster farms appear on nearly 365 hectares. The Cancale oyster is appreciated by oyster lovers for its distinctive taste obtained thanks to the richness of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
Overlooking the port of La Houle, the Sentier des Douaniers, which extends over several kilometres, notably from Cancale to Pointe du Grouin, is a pure delight for walkers who will discover pretty little coves along the way. It offers an unobstructed view of Mont Saint-Michel and its bay.
Further away, and for the more sporty, located 7km from Cancale, the Pointe du Grouin appears like a small corner of Paradise. The area is also accessible by road, with a parking area available.
The site offers a sublime panoramic view of the Emerald Coast, one of the most important in Ille-et-Vilaine. Offshore, Mont Saint-Michel or the Chausey Islands appear.
Finally, wildlife lovers will enjoy watching the Great Cormorant, the main bird that inhabits the area. The protected ornithological and botanical reserve is home to various birds such as herring gulls and magpie.
Some lucky people will also be able to see colonies of dolphins wandering in Breton waters.
